dc.description.abstract |
"We conduct a field experiment to measure cooperation among a group of sports fishermen at a recreational fishing facility. Group incentives are created to reduce the number of fish caught. Nonetheless, cooperation is observed. Additional treatments explore the differences between behavior in our field setting and traditional laboratory experiments. These treatments establish that students cooperate less than fishermen in a lab setting and that fishermen cooperate more in their natural environment than in the lab, and thus neither the subject pool nor the non-laboratory setting account for the low cooperation in the field experiment." |
