Abstract: "This paper will present the preliminary findings of a research project on relationships between fishermen and their coastal landscapes and resources in southern New Jersey. The project's goal is to help set policies on sustainable fish and shellfish development, assuming different relationships to the resource among commercial fishermen, sports and clammers, fiven the hypothesis that affective/emotional relationships are vital to policy and decision making. If successful, the project would have cross-cultural implications."
