Abstract: "This report seeks to identify the implications of achieving sustainable development reconciling the needs of socially necessary growth and the preservation of the environment in the developing countries. Today we are particularly concerned with those aspects of the environment, which are especially relevant to the well-being of future generations. In this context it is important to resolve the several questions arising out of pressing development needs in poor countries and the related ecological issues. Accordingly, this Report addresses the choice of appropriate policies, instruments, areas of application, mechanisms and the institutional framework that need to be put in place to facilitate a global environmental compact."
