Abstract: "Continued development assistance for forestry requires that forestry projects be attractive in terms of their financial, economic, social and environmental benefits. This article reviews the project completion reports of 28 externally funded forestry projects and concludes that, in many cases, the methodologies used in evaluating them resulted in an underestimation of their benefits, particularly those outside direct financial returns."
