Abstract: "The following case study forms part of FAO Project GCP/INT/542/ITA - Interregional Project for Participatory Upland Conservation and Development (FAO/Italian Government programme) - a project based on the principles set out in Chapter 13 of the Rio Earth Summit's Agenda 21 (1992) on the management and sustainable development of mountain ecosystems. Bolivia, Nepal and Tunisia are participating in this pilot project, designed to identify and evaluate strategies, methods and techniques for promoting and strengthening people's participation in upland watershed conservation and development."
