Abstract: "This paper focuses on urban gardens as a commons. In particular, it focuses on the utility that the idea of the 'commons' bring to the urban arena and how do urban commons emerge or are produced. Based on specific cases from Brussels, compared with data coming from other European cases this paper presents urban gardening as new commoning experience as well as a way to reshape cities. Furthermore, urban gardens also play a relevant role as a form of social resilience. Commons are more than a simple alternative economic model; they are a form of resilience and a tool of social change. It is also the case for urban commons and its role in reshaping the cities and the interaction between citizens."
