Abstract: "In the Asia-Pacific Region the sea territory of a social group is usually within the reef and commonly, but not always, defined by proximity or adjacency to its settlements, and by lateral and seawards boundaries. Communities or smaller social units maintain exclusive rights to all known adjacent submerged reefs. Seawards of the reefs the degree of exclusiveness of rights gradually declines."
