Abstract: From p. 3: "This publication seeks to support sustainable livelihoods in Africa and elsewhere by sharing the recent, real-life experience of Africans who have used the processes and principles of consensual negotiation to address natural resource conflicts. The case studies were carried out as part of a programme for building African capacity to manage and resolve natural resource conflicts. The programme was initiated by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through its Livelihood Support Programme (LSP) and implemented in partnership with InWent, Capacity Building International, Germany. The programme is based on training materials and a specific approach to training developed by LSP. The publication will also provide reflections and lessons learned about the training approach, and accomplishments and limitations of the programme, for those interested in carrying out similar tasks."
