Abstract:
|
"South Africa is one of many countries in which there are questions around what the future holds for those who were removed from places that are presently utilised for biodiversity conservation and eco-tourist exploitation. But as is the case elsewhere, peoples claims against protected areas in South Africa are related in isolation. They often focus specifically on one community, or even one faction of a community, and in this way become divorced from any wider context. It is impossible to address the gaps in any detail here and my purpose is merely to raise a few points that bear out the call for more careful and detailed case studies as far as South Africa is concerned."
