Abstract: "This paper is an attempt to examine gender and sustainable development within the system of natural resource management in a Karen community as a whole, with special emphasis on the role of gender in resource management. This paper will also look at how the women adjust themselves in terms of sustainable natural resource management amidst current mainstream development aiming at modernization and economic growth, and state policies of natural resource management relating to the globalization system."
