Abstract: "Twenty five years ago, Oregon adopted the first state-wide land use laws in the United States. The program was designed to protect natural resources and make wise use of the land in both urban and rural areas. Due to the coordinated approach to land use planning in cities and counties throughout the state, today, Oregon is the closest thing America has to a deliberate place."
