Abstract: "The study is concerned with rural people's use of CPRs and how these contribute to their ability to improve their quality of life. The study is based on surveys conducted in one village each in the districts of Purulia and Bardhaman, representing the Plateau Region and Gangetic Plains of West Bengal. The Purulia village is backward and it has a high proportion of nonarable land, while the Bardhaman village is prosperous and which meant rapid depletion of CPRs."
