Abstract: "This report for the environmental charity Groundwork UK examines how urban green spaces can be preserved and cared for in perpetuity. Drawing on a wealth of research and case studies, it argues that parks and green spaces should be valued for the totality of ecosystem services they provide. The best way to ensure this value is preserved, it suggests, is to apply the principles of the historic commons to their management and stewardship, ensuring rights of access and enjoyment as well as a lasting duty of care."
