"Over the decades the concept of hariyoban Nepal ko dhan (meaning green forest is Nepal's wealth) is getting transformed to samudayikban Nepal ko dhan (meaning community forest is Nepal's wealth). In decades of efforts to develop community forestry in Nepal, nearly one tenth of forest area has been formally handed over to more than nine thousand forest user groups. Of this total area handed over, 20.6% area is managed by 1978 FUGs in the central development region..." |
