dc.description.abstract"My effort in this report is to present the development of the irrigation sector in Bhutan. The present status of the sector, agency organization, investment trends, and donor agency involvement are highlighted within the context of a long tradition of farmer-managed irrigation and subsequent developments in government policy on irrigation development and management. Since 1961, the Government of Bhutan has made substantial investments in the agricultural and irrigation sectors through planned development exercises. As new developments have evolved, the government has changed its policy in the irrigation sector to respond to the change."en_US
