dc.description.abstract"With only 0.2 hectares of forest per person, the Asia-Pacific region is, per capita, the least forested region in the world. Reinvestment in forests is necessary to reduce timber import dependence, support biodiversity conservation and climate change mitigation, revitalise rural economies and protect land and populations from environmental hazards and the impacts of climate change. Expanding the regions forest base will be an essential component of a greener future."en_US
