Abstract

"This contribution, in following panel objectives, aims to go beyond current discourse on conservation and indigenous issues by analyzing goods' characteristics in order to find op-portunities and limitations in future policy development. The paper is organized into four more sections. Firstly, I give a basic empirical description of as well institutional history as the facts on the ground; as a basis for revealing both common interests and dimensions of con-flict between conservation and indigenous interests. Secondly, I provide a short introduction of relevant aspects of commons theory. Thirdly, I will use this as a platform for an analytic re-flection over how actors' interplay and how different perceptions of goods can contribute to the understanding of patterns of interaction and how traditional Sami use can be integrated into conservation praxis including implications for the use of IUCN categories."
