Abstract

"One of the main questions of the study is: How do present theories, which describe cooperation to attain some common goods, refer to the process of setting up organizations (i.e. transport regions) and the functioning of these organizations (i.e. transport regions)? Which theory (present or to build) can explain these processes? In this paper some preliminary conclusions with respect to this question will be presented. Some remarks will be made about the character of the objectives of Dutch transport policy. Subsequently game theory and theory with regard to collective action will be presented. This theory will be used to describe and evaluate some developments in a particular transport region, the Twente case."
