Nigerien Herder Associations: Institutional Analysis and Design; Executive Summary

Abstract

"This report analyzes feasibility of herder associations in the Niger Range and Livestock (NRL) project's pastoral zone area. It comprises two broad sub-sections: 1) institutional analysis of rationales for and conditions governing feasibility of herder associations in the project area; and 2) alternative institutional designs for such groups, in terms both of internal organization and relationships to the Government of Niger (GON) administrative hierarchy."
