Abstract
"This paper, which is introduction to my book raises four questions: (1) What are the factors responsible for the failed state-controlled governance and the consequent persistent socio-economic and political crises in Nigeria? (2) What were/are the self-governing attributes inherent in Yoruba people of south-western Nigeria in the per-colonial, colonial and post-colonial era? (3) Under what conditions are the Yoruba people of Nigeria Cooperating mutually in responding to their common problems? (4) Under what conditions are the Yoruba capable of crossing hurdles in their passage to mutually productive ways of life?"
