Abstract
"The topic of this book, the digital divide, refers to the unequal
distribution of resources associated with information and communication technologies, between countries and within societies. The case of access to information technologies, provides an excellent opportunity to study the way that one technology-based product, in this case the Internet, can favor both economic and social development, greater freedom and circulation of information and social participation while it also possesses the capacity to deepen social inequality and create new forms of power concentration."
