The Viral of Anjay Word: Indonesia Slang (Literature Study of Slang)
    (2020) Sarbunan, Thobias
"Slang uses referred to modernity, language assimilation, and language variety in social discourses; that underlined the background to the reason of young generation to assimilate and modification, as a tool for communicating also socialization. Importantly, slang even the outer level of young ages, will interpret as negative meanings, but they going to acquire in variety moment. That culture or we can appeal as language behave, promoting their boundaries as independent language user. In further slang became the symbol of freedom of speech, the popularity of zoom generation, a group of human class entity, and modern life. All perspective above, that grounded and interrelated to slang uses, was implicating to the use of Anjay word [as the representative or reflection of the various slang in Indonesia]. The word such Anjay, transported from negative meanings which rooting of [dog-word; in Bahasa Indonesia as Anjing] became one of popular slang that expressed of enthusiasm, adore, joke, love, and friendship to one object. Unpredictable and unthinkable, why, today, as researcher try to describe this topic, that word was problematic to the outer ages of young generation. We have to notice that, Anjay popularity have been using for years, and Indonesian known as one of our Prokem or in English call Slang. Besides that, the highest trend of the uses of that word was achieving in period of YouTube golden age likes in the mid of pandemic. There has numerous user of Anjay word in the moment of speaking. To adhere that issue, researcher was in purpose to describe from scientific attention, in short the interchangeable of language scope to the Anjay word in depth, the method was literature study that compiled of journal-thesis-and bachelor paper. Result showed that slang in general studies, were several of type. So that, we have to consider not also the root of word, but the locus, segment of the user, the reason behind the slang used, and the other language studies factor, such as semantic, lexicon, sociolinguistic, psycholinguistic. Shortly, Anjay word interpretation or description, considered as various slang that not only simply to relate for negative meanings as its viral discussion, but as the language expression to the entity group such young ages."

Knowledge Based View of University Tech Transfer: A Systematic Literature Review and Meta-Analysis
    (2020) Hamilton, Clovia; Philbin, Simon
"Research and technology commercialization at research-intensive universities has helped to develop provincial economies resulting in university startups, the growth of other new companies and associated employment. University technology transfer offices (TTOs) oversee the process of technology transfer into the commercial marketplace and these organizational units can be considered in the context of enabling effective knowledge management. However, what enables productive TTO performance has not been comprehensively researched. Therefore, this research study adopted the knowledge-based view as the theoretical construct to support a comprehensive investigation into this area. This was achieved through employing a systematic literature review (SLR) combined with a robust meta-analysis. The SLR identified an initial total of 10,126 articles in the first step of the review process, with 44 studies included in the quantitative synthesis, and 29 quantitative empirical studies selected for the meta-analysis. The research study identified that the relationship between TTO knowledge management and knowledge deployment as well as startup business performance is where TTOs secure the strongest returns."

Patented Brand Drugs are Essential Facilities and Regulatory Compacts
(2023) Hamilton, Clovia; Stokes, Gerald M.
The COVID-19 health pandemic highlighted the need for more readily affordable patented drugs. Brand drug companies argue that they need to recuperate their research and development (“R&D”), marketing and advertising expenses. The incentive to innovate also needs to be preserved. Drug companies are entitled to a profit and a return on their investment, just as afforded to utility monopolies. Intellectual property and human rights clash relative to access to patented drugs. We provide several proposed approaches to resolve this dilemma and conclude with an argument that patented drugs should be considered a public utility. A model based on the public utility approach has a great deal of merit as a model for setting prices for essential drugs and treatments. The price, however, setting should not be the province of back-room discussions between drug companies and insurers. Prices should be negotiated in public with full transparency just as electricity rates. Investor-owned utilities are profitable essential facilities that are of great benefit to consumers and provide reasonable and regular return on investment for their owners. This can happen for manufacturers of essential drugs as well.

Importance of Manual Classification in ICT age
    (2022) Aragabye, Marcus
"The purpose of this study is to emphasize the reasons why manual classification of information materials should not be abandoned in current ICT era, particularly in Nigeria. Libraries are no exception to ICT applications, and we can observe how they have already altered library services and activities. Also, Information Technology (IT) has made it presence in almost every sphere of human activity including the library practice but to have fully automated classification scheme is yet to be implemented. Library operation, such as cataloging, reference service, and the rest has a feel of this. For example, ICT has incorporated copy cataloguing into cataloguing operations, which libraries now employ instead of manual cataloging and also the arrival of online public access cataloguing (OPAC) was influenced by ICT, but this has not been fully infused into classification operations, which has kept the manual system of classification alive even in the face of ICT. Manual classification, on the other hand, cannot be abandoned because it is fundamental to the profession of librarianship. The classification of information resources is a foundation upon which librarianship is built, making classification a system as old as the library itself, as well as a practice that is unaffected by technological innovation. In addition, there are a variety of reasons in Nigeria that support the continued use of manual classification of information resources in the face of ICT. As a result, in this study we attempted to see the necessity of manual classification as well as the limitations of ICT in classification and the availing of manual classification in Nigeria."

Presence in Teaching: Intended Practices and Remaining Challenges of Teachers in Indonesia
(2021) Rahman, Ahmad Ardillah; Nasution; Warsono; Sanasintani; Said, Muhammad
"The Indonesian government has continuously pursued to improve the quality of its education. One of the crucial factors in empowering the education is through strengthening the quality of teachers and teaching profession. This article aims to explore teachers’ professional practices and expertise in Indonesia by considering the theory of ‘presence’ in teaching. Presence can be defined as the capability of teachers to connect and engage with students mentally, emotionally, and physically in the learning environment for teachers to be able to meet the needs of students in learning. This article is divided into two sections. Firstly, it addresses the current educational practices and explores the problems of teachers’ pedagogies in Indonesia. Using data from existing research and surveys, it reveals that the requirements for standardised test and ranking system, the culture of transmission model in teaching, and the hierarchical relationship between teachers and students bring the education further away from the essence of what it means to teach. Therefore, in response to these problems, the second part of this article suggests the needs of teachers to reconceptualise their current understanding of pedagogy and to employ the concept of teacher presence in teaching. In doing so, teachers are expected to build connection with students, connection with pedagogical and content knowledge, and connection with parents and communities."

Application of Cyborgs and Enhancement Technology in Biomedical Engineering
(2021) Cebo, Daniel; Robert G., Dunder
"As we go deeper into the twenty-first century, there is a major trend to improve the body with 'cyborg technology.' In fact, due to medical necessity, millions of people around the world are now equipped with prosthetic devices to restore lost function, and the DIY movement is growing to improve the body to create new senses or to improve current senses 'beyond normal.' From prosthetic limbs, artificial cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators, brain-computer implants, cochlear implants, retinal prostheses, magnets as implants, exoskeletons and many other improvements, the human body becomes more mechanical and computational, and therefore less biological. This trend will continue to accelerate once the body is transformed into information processing technology, which ultimately calls one's sense of identity and what it means to be human. This article evaluates 'cyborg enhancement technologies' with an emphasis on technological brain enhancements and the creation of new senses-the benefits of which can allow direct implantation of information into the brain, editing memories, wireless brain connection-brain communication and a wide range of sensory information to explore and experience. The paper concludes with reflections on the future direction of cyborgs and the meaning and consequences of becoming a cyborg and less so in an age of rapid progress in the design and use of computer technology. with an emphasis on technological improvements in the brain and the creation of new senses-the benefits of which can allow direct implantation of information into the brain, editing memories, wireless brain-brain communication, and a wide range of sensory information, which need to be explored and experienced."

Implementation of an IOT-Based Water Quality Monitoring System in Water Battery Electricity Generation Plants
    (2022) Oluchukwu, Nathan; Solomon, Esomu
"Water batteries can feed into an existing electric grid and help in ensuring constant electricity by redistributing electricity when demand is high. However, the water-based water system's main significant problem with battery maintenance is knowing when to fill batteries with water and checking the quality of water coming into it. The quality and level of water in a water battery electricity generating system need to be monitored and managed to ensure that it lasts a long time. This study, therefore, looked at how IoT systems can be used in that regard to ensure constant electricity. The objective of this research is to develop and implement a prototype IoT-based water quality monitoring system for use in the water battery system. Arduino Uno was used as the microcontroller for this project. The sensors needed in this project consist of a pH sensor, Turbidity sensors and conductivity. A Wi-Fi module was used to send the results to the smartphone via Wi-Fi. The results were sent through Blynk software and the results were shown on a smartphone. The developed water monitoring quality system detected water quality parameters like Ph, water level and turbidity. The data obtained from the sensors were uploaded to the Blynk/ThingSpeak dashboard for online monitoring purposes. The system can also control the water quality of the samples by interfacing with pumps to maintain acceptable water levels and quality. The prototype system monitored water quality according to the scheduled plan and objective. The developed system was successfully implemented and determined the turbidity, pH, Total dissolved solids (TDS), flow rate and level of water. The paper recommends that the prototype should be adopted and developed along with the water battery electricity generation system."
