Abstract: "This paper presents an economic model for collective resource management. The model is premised on the assumption that certain factors motivate individual and collective decision-making. These underlying assumptions, as well as the robustness of the model, are field tested with data from actual resource management systems in Sri Lanka and Southern India. Initial field visits suggest that the model may be robust in explaining some of the important features of common property regimes."
